CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A woman died while four others were injured when a fuel tanker collided with a car in Orion, Bataan on Friday.
Reports said the tanker, driven by Audie Mendeja, was traveling along Roman Highway in Barangay Puting Buhangin when it hit a Honda Civic driven by Amado Fulgencio.
Col. Marites Salvadora, Bataan police director, said the fatality was among three passengers of the Civic.
Mendeja and the driver and passengers of the Civic were rushed to the Bataan General Hospital where the woman died while being treated.
Probers said the car tried to overtake, causing it to crash into the tanker.
The impact spilled fuel along the highway and sparked a fire that destroyed the tanker.
Responding firefighters from nearby towns put out the fire at 6:15 p.m.
