CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Twelve members of communist terrorist groups (CTGs) and underground mass organizations (UGMOs) in the provinces of Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan have surrendered to the government in the past week.

BGen. Jean Fajardo, regional director of the Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3), said this is proof that the present administration's campaign against insurgency, under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is effective.

Fajardo identified one of the surrenderers as Ka Mia, a farmer from Barangay Pao 3 in Camiling, Tarlac.

Fajardo said she was a former member of the Kilusang Larangang Guerilla-Tarlac-Zambales (KLG-TAR-ZAM) under Neptali Santos alias Ka Atong, which operated in Tarlac and Zambales.

With the help of intelligence operatives of the Camiling Municipal Police Station, Ka Mia surrendered and turned over to authorities one caliber.38 revolver without ammunition on May 13.

He was a former member of the Revolutionary People's Army (RHB) operating along the coastal of Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, and Bataan.

He also surrendered a snub-nose caliber.38 revolver to the police.

The surrender was carried out by the 1st PMFC together with the Malolos CPS, Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit, 70th Infantry Battalion-Philippine Army (PA).

Ka Ruby is currently undergoing documentation and tactical interrogation, and has already been given initial financial assistance.

Alias Nonoy, another former member of UGMO and the Pambansang Katipunan ng Magsasaka (PKM), surrendered on May 16 in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija. He is 32 years old, single, and a resident of Barangay San Eustacio, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija.

He also surrendered a caliber.38 revolver to authorities.

"The series of surrenders clearly demonstrate the success of the government's intensified campaign against the insurgency under Oplan Balik-Loob and the initiatives of the local Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (Elcac)," Fajardo said.

"It also demonstrates the re-conversion of former rebels to peaceful living and the continued efforts of the PNP in promoting peace and order in the region."
