IMUS CITY – Quality rice seeds and 150 sacks of urea fertilizer were given away to 130 farmers here during a distribution activity supervised by Mayor Alex "AA" Advincula on Saturday.
The local government's program aims to strengthen the livelihood of farmers in the area and ensure sufficient harvest for their families and the entire community in partnership with City Agriculturist Robert Marges.
A total of 567 hectares in the city are primarily devoted to rice and an additional 80-100 hectares are for vegetable farms.
Advincula said the city government will continue to focus on food security and agricultural development for the betterment of the Imus people.
Amid development, community growth, and industrialization, there are still remnants of rice fields in Barangay Malagasang 1 and 2, Alapan 2B, Pasong Buaya, Anabu 1B, Medicion, Tanzang Luma, and Carsadang Bago.
