BACOLOD CITY – One-hundred fifty-five personnel from the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region were tapped to support security operations in the State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 28.

Police Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson for PRO-NIR, said they will be deployed for law enforcement and public safety operations in Negros Occidental, including this highly-urbanized city, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

The regional police force remains vigilant and proactive in light of anticipated nationwide protest actions, Malong said.

All personnel have been directed to observe maximum tolerance, ensure the protection of human rights, and strictly comply with the Revised Police Operational Procedures.

Malong said the regional headquarters is fully prepared to perform its security duties in the SONA, in close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other government units.

A task group has been activated to oversee operational coordination, intelligence monitoring, Civil Disturbance Management readiness, traffic control, media coordination, human rights adherence, and emergency response preparations.

The deployment will ensure a safe, peaceful, and orderly conduct of the President’s constitutional address, Malong said.

The PRO-NIR aligns its operations with national efforts to safeguard the formal event and the general public.

They called on the public to cooperate with authorities, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activities as part of the collective effort to ensure the safety and security of all Filipinos during the national event.
