CEBU CITY — Cebu's universities once again proved their excellence in teacher education as 16 of their graduates secured top spots in the March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LET).

Based on the results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on May 23, eight graduates from Cebu-based schools landed in the top 10 for the Elementary level, while another eight achieved the same feat in the Secondary level.

Leading the list was Jeanlyn Guinita Colipano of Cebu Technological University (CTU)–Danao, who emerged as the topnotcher in the Secondary level after garnering a score of 93.80 percent.

Her achievement marked the highest score among all test-takers nationwide.

She was joined in the top 10 by fellow Cebu graduates Lei Mykylls Semaña Fernandez of Cebu Normal University (CNU), who ranked sixth, and Margaux Amatos Bailon, also from CNU, who placed seventh.

Marie Jessa Lisondra Montemayor of CTU–Main followed in eighth place, while Janine Napoles of Cebu Institute of Technology–University ranked ninth.

Three others from Cebu completed the list of top scorers at the Secondary level, all tied in 10th place. This includes Geremie Fegarido Generale of CNU, Nelia Soler Gutierrez of CTU–Main, and Sheen Sarsaba Montezon of CTU–Argao.

In the Elementary level, Bea Geraldine Ylaya Larobis of CNU and Juliana Mae Berame Magtagad of CTU–Main Campus both placed seventh nationwide, on identical 93.20 percent ratings.

Two examinees from CTU — Ricamae Bentoy De Los Reyes from CTU–Carmen and Jean Rose Mamac Lamela from CTU–Main — were tied for eighth place.

Louiss Arctura Degamo of CTU–Main landed in ninth place. Three more graduates were tied at 10th place, including Mary Angeli Imperial Del Mar of CTU–Moalboal, Rhea Nicole Muaña Hoyo-a of CTU–Main, and John Lester Rizon Tuazon of Salazar Institute of Technology in Cebu City.

A total of 55,029 out of 97,035 examinees passed the exams for a nationwide passing rate for 2025 LET of 56.71 percent, according to PRC.

Among the top-performing institutions based on group size and pass rates are Bicol University–Daraga which posted an impressive 97.12 percent passing rate in the Elementary level, and the Philippine Normal University–Manila which attained a near-perfect 98.98 percent in the Secondary level.

The exam was conducted on March 23 across more than 40 testing centers nationwide, including in Cebu, Metro Manila, Davao, Iloilo, and Baguio.
