COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two people died while 10 others were badly injured when the multicab they were riding from an outreach mission veered off the highway and plunged into a ravine in Surallah, South Cotabato on Saturday.
Leonardo Ballon, Surallah municipal disaster risk reduction and management office chief, identified the fatalities as driver Joey Areglado and passenger Marilyn Antonio.
Ballon said the 12 were all members of the Seventh-Day Adventist community in Surallah.
Police said the other passengers suffered wounds, fractures and contusions and were taken to different hospitals for treatment.
Initial investigation showed that the 12 were on their way home from an outreach mission in Barangay Upper Sepaka when Areglado lost control of the vehicle allegedly due to a mechanical trouble.
