2 murder suspects arrested

ILOILO CITY — The two suspects in the fatal shooting of the personal driver of Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) director Gaudioso Geduspan II were arrested on Wednesday night.

The suspects, identified by authorities as alias Boy, 45, and alias JR, 40, are residents of Barangay Aldeguer in Sara town. They were apprehended hours after the shooting incident in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia.

The Sara Municipal Police Station launched a checkpoint operation after receiving reports of the shooting in Pavia.

Witnesses and informants said the suspects fled the crime scene aboard a white Isuzu Crosswind.

Acting on the tip, the Sara police initially set up a checkpoint on the road leading to Concepcion but later relocated to Barangay Aspera after coordination revealed other units were already monitoring nearby areas.

The vehicle matching the description and plate number provided by Pavia police approached the checkpoint, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

The two were brought to the Sara Police Station for questioning and were later positively identified through a CCTV footage.

Police said the firearm used in the crime was not recovered, as the suspects allegedly threw it away while fleeing.

The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. on April 3 inside Parc Regency Residences, a subdivision in Pavia.

The victim, Wilmer Villarosa, a resident of Janiuay but is temporarily staying in the area, was reportedly sitting near the roadside when the suspects approached and shot him multiple times.

Residents reportedly heard at least five gunshots during the incident, and both suspects were believed to have been armed with 9mm pistols.

The suspects are in the custody of the Pavia Municipal Police Station and murder charges are being prepared against them.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the killing.
