Twenty thousand individuals from Maguindao del Sur received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation after they were affected by flooding caused by heavy rains due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ)

According to "24 Oras" Wednesday, among the beneficiaries of the foundation's Operation Bayanihan project is Kepbo Masulot from Datu Piang. The municipality had declared a state of calamity due to the rains.

Kepbo only earns P250 a day ferrying passengers on a boat, but the rains have caused the river to overflow.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation was able to distribute food packs to 20,000 affected residents from Sultan sa Barongis, Mamasapano, Datu Piang, and Datu Abdullah Sangki.

"Kami po at ang buong komunidad ng Datu Piang ay nagpapasalamat sa GMA Kapsuo Foundation, lalong-lalo na po kay ma'am Mel Tiangco, kayo po 'yung nagbibigay parati ng unang tulong sa amin po sa Datu Piang," said Suhara Sapalon, department head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Datu Piang.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
