As the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival approaches, anticipation is building for another celebration of Filipino talent and compelling storytelling. Meanwhile, entries from the festival's inaugural 2024 edition continue to earn recognition, securing spots in prestigious international film festivals and highlighting the creativity and artistry of Filipino filmmakers.
These achievements not only celebrate local talent but also demonstrate CinePanalo's role in elevating Philippine cinema on the global stage.
Three films from last year's major awardees have already been selected for global film festivals. Best Picture winner "Under a Piaya Moon," directed by Kurt Soberano, was presented at the 2024 Festival International du Film Transsaharien de Zagora in Morocco, held from December 9 to 13.
The Always Panalo Film and Audience Choice winner "A Lab Story," directed by Carlo Obispo, was featured at the 2024 Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain from October 24 to November 3, and at the 2024 Brunei Film Blitz from December 18 to 20.
The Special Jury Prize for Short Film-winning student short "Text FIND DAD and Send to 2366," directed by Kent Cadungog, was showcased at the 2024 Singapore International Film Festival from November 28 to December 8, and will also be featured at the 2025 Emirates Film Festival from January 15 to 18.

In addition to these award-winning films, several other entries from the first Puregold CinePanalo were invited to international film festivals. "Tiil ni Lola," a student short directed by Reutsche Colle Lima, was shown at the 2024 Asia-Pacific Youth Micro Movie Festival in Hong Kong from November 21 to 23.
Joel Ferrer's "Road to Happy" was recognized in the non-competitive section of the Children Showcase at the 2024 Jagran Film Festival, while "A Lab Story" competed in the International Feature category.
Eugene Torres' "One Day League: Dead Mother, Dead All" was displayed at the 2024 Exposures Montreal Trans Film Festival, which concluded last September.
Also joining "Text FIND DAD and Send to 2366" at the Emirates Film Festival is "Smokey Journey," a student short by Jenievive Adame.
For Puregold Senior Marketing Manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, the success of the 2024 Puregold CinePanalo winners at international festivals proves that Filipino filmmakers just needed the right opportunity to shine.
"The talent has always been there," said Hayagan-Piedad. "It's about providing the opportunity, and we're proud to have done that with Puregold CinePanalo. When given the chance, Filipino artists can create works of art that the world will appreciate."
CinePanalo Festival Director Chris Cahilig echoed this sentiment and is optimistic that the success of the 2024 entries will generate even more excitement for the upcoming 2025 festival.
"The success of our 2024 batch sets a high bar and we hope it encourages more people to check out what the 2025 edition will offer," said Cahilig. "With Puregold, we look forward to making the next CinePanalo even bigger and better."
The eight finalists of the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo will each receive a P3,000,000 grant, while the 25 student shorts will each receive a production grant of P150,000. Both groups will debut their films at the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival, set to run from March 14 to 25 at Gateway Cinemas.
