Opening ceremonies of the 66th Palarong Pambansa at Patin-ay Sports Complex in Agusan Del Sur. – DEPED PHOTOPROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur— The 2026 Palarong Pambansa concluded on Sunday, May 31, at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Cultural Center, capping a week-long celebration of sportsmanship among thousands of student-athletes from across the country.
The closing ceremonies of the 66th edition of the Palarong Pambansa were scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with the assembly of athletes, followed by a unity parade and an opening production number.
Highlights of the event included the announcement of winners in the elementary and secondary divisions, the overall champion, Para Games winners, the Top Five Performing Schools Division Offices, and the Most Bemedalled Athlete.
Traditional rites featured the lowering of the flags of the Philippines, the Department of Education, and the Palarong Pambansa, as well as the extinguishing of the Unity Cauldron.

Special recognition was also given to outstanding athletes, including gold medalist Breanna Aaliyah Erno for her remarkable performances in swimming.
Quezon City, led by Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte, will host the next edition of the games.
The program concluded with the presentation of plaques of appreciation, a closing prayer, and a grand unity dance finale titled “We Rise As One: The Ultimate Palaro Dream,” featuring performances by local artists, officials, and delegates.
Hosted by Agusan del Sur from May 24 to 31, the 2026 Palarong Pambansa brought together thousands of athletes, coaches, and delegates from various regions, turning the province’s long-awaited hosting dream into a vibrant and memorable reality. /mcm
