MANILA, Philippines — A total of 235 out of 796 examinees passed the 2026 Shari’ah Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court said.

This yielded a 29.52% passing rate for this year’s examination on Islamic personal law, with the results released on Wednesday, July 1.

Examinees Ahmad Nuska Bato and Van Regine Lim Perlas tied for the top spot with a score of 89.15%.

According to the Supreme Court, while 1,055 applicants initially registered for the 2026 Shari’ah Special Bar Examinations, only 799 completed the first day, and 796 ultimately finished the entire two-day examination.

Of the 796 examinees who completed the tests, women significantly outnumbered men, with 529 female and 267 male participants.

The cohort was also composed of 536 first-time takers and 260 repeat examinees.

In terms of exam administration, English remained the dominant language, with 751 examinees taking the test in English compared to just 45 who opted for Arabic.

The special bar exams were conducted over two days, on May 24 and 27, across four local testing centers nationwide to accommodate applicants from different regions.

The official oath-taking and roll-signing ceremonies for the new Shari’ah Bar lawyers will be held on July 16 at the Manila Hotel.

This year’s number of Shari’ah Bar passers is higher than the 154 passers in 2025.
