MANILA, Philippines — Two fires broke out in Taguig on Wednesday, leaving three people dead after being trapped at their home.
An elderly couple aged 65 and 67 and a stroke patient died at the scene.
The fire along C-6 Road in Barangay New Lower Bicutan started at 4:30 p.m. and reached the first alarm.
The fire was put out at 6:39 p.m., Supt. Garynel Julian, marshal of the Taguig Bureau of Fire Protection said.
The BFP said damage to property was estimated at P1.5 million.
Nine people were rushed to the hospital after they suffered injuries.
Twenty-six displaced families or 109 people are taking shelter at the Ricardo P. Cruz Sr. Elementary School.
Another fire broke out at a residential area in Barangay Bagumbayan, Taguig.
Fourteen families were left homeless, the BFP said.
In Parañaque, four people were injured and over 600 families lost their homes after a fire tore through a residential area in Barangay San Antonio on Wednesday.
Arson probers are still investigating the cause of the fire, which destroyed over P900,000 worth of property.
