COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents on Tuesday, August 18, arrested four operators of a drug den in an entrapment operation in Barangay Upper Siling in Buluan town, Maguindanao del Sur, which was carried out with the help of Moro villagers annoyed by their illegal activities in the area.
Local executives told reporters on Friday that the male suspects, whose names were withheld pending the filing of criminal charges against them, are scions of big clans in Maguindanao del Sur province.
Edgar Jubay, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said on Friday that PDEA-BARMM agents and policemen from different units of the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office immediately arrested the suspects after they sold shabu to undercover agents during a tradeoff at their drug den in Purok 1 in Barangay Upper Siling.
The entrapment operation, assisted by officials of the Buluan Municipal Police Station and traditional Moro community leaders in the municipality, was based on reports from the relatives of the four men about their operation of a drug den in Purok 1 in Barangay Upper Siling, where they facilitated pot sessions for buyers of their illegal merchandise.
PDEA-BARMM agents confiscated P54,000 worth of shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia from the suspects, which will be used as evidence in prosecuting them in court for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Under state law, the operation of a drug den is a non-bailable offense.
