BACOLOD CITY — A four-year-old girl was killed in a fire that broke out in a residential area in Purok Ipil-Ipil, Barangay 1, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said that the fire destroyed 27 houses, all made of light materials, and displaced 30 families composed of 109 individuals.
Most of the affected families are temporarily housed at the barangay covered court, the BFP said.
Fire Officer 1 Reynan Jundos, BFP investigator on the case, said the remains of the 4-year-old victim were found charred inside their house.
He also reported one injury during the fire incident, a woman who suffered a first-degree burn.

While BFP investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze, Jundos said witnesses claim that the fire originated from the house of a certain Norisa.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental-Bacolod City chapter immediately responded to the needs of the fire victims.
