MANILA, Philippines — A series of earthquakes reaching up to magnitude 5.9 yesterday jolted Sultan Kudarat, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The 5.9-magnitude temblor occurred at 12:11 a.m., 51 kilometers south of Palimbang town.
Residents of Kiamba, Sarangani and Lebak and Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat felt a strong Intensity 5 quake.
The towns of Alabel, Glan and Maitum in Sarangani and T’Boli and Tupi in South Cotabato felt a moderately strong Intensity 4 quake. Magnitude 5.1 and 5.4 quakes followed at 12:50 a.m. and 1:37 a.m., respectively.
