CAMP MIGUEL C MALVAR, KUMINTANG ILAYA, Batangas City — The Batangas Police Pro-vincial Office, led by acting provincial director Col. Jacinto Malinao Jr., apprehended five individuals involved in illegal online e-sabong activities in Barangay Poblacion 1, in Santa Teresita town on Jan. 16.

The operation was conducted through the joint efforts of the Provincial Special Operations Group, Provincial Intelligence Unit and Santa Teresita Municipal Police Station.

The arrested gamblers were identified only by their aliases.

The raiders confiscated pieces of evidence used in the illegal activities such as a PC Panasonic camera, camera stand, cellular phone, adaptor, battery, cords, a Starlink modem, scratch pins, fighting cocks, boxes of gaff and other related items.

The suspects are now under the custody of Batangas Police Provincial Office, with docu-ments being prepared for filing of charges in violations of Presidential Decree 1602 in re-lation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175, or the "Cybercrime Prevention Act."

"The Batangas Police will continue to intensify their efforts to identify, apprehend and bring to justice those involved in these unlawful operations," said Malinao.

"Let this serve as a strong warning to all who are engaged in illegal online sabong. The law will catch up to you, and you will face the consequences of your actions," warned Ma-linao.
