TUGUEGARAO CITY — Seventy-six police officers in Cagayan Valley were dismissed from service from 2022 to 2024 due to various administrative complaints filed against them, the PNP-2 Discipline, Law and Order Section (DLOS) said on Friday, Jan. 31.
DLOS chief Maj. Isabelita Gano said that the 76 officers were involved in the 323 cases filed before the regional police office. At least 288 of these cases were resolved, and 200 of them were disciplined with suspension, reprimand and other sanctions. Out of these 200, 76 were dismissed.
Most of the cases include illegal drugs or absence without official leave or AWOL. These two reasons alone led to the dismissal of most of the police officers from service.
Those who were meted penalties or fines were due to simple cases, such as not wearing the correct uniform and not submitting reports on time, said Gano.
Gano said a massive information education campaign will be initiated by the DLOS this year in all police units in the region to address the rising cases of administrative offenses.
