MANILA, Philippines — Aboitiz Power Corp. posted flat financial results last year, as hotter energy sales fell short of offsetting losses in the fourth quarter.

In a regulatory filing, the Aboitiz Group’s power arm said its core net income marginally dropped to P33.1 billion in 2025 from P33.7 billion a year earlier.

Core earnings would have risen by two percent if not for the depreciation and interest expenses of GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co., which operates a 1,336-megawatt coal plant in Mariveles, Bataan.

AboitizPower also incurred a net loss of P3.9 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, a reversal of P6.6-billion profit in the same period in 2024.

The company, however, delivered higher energy sales across its core businesses.

For the generation and retail electricity supply business, energy sold heated up by 21 percent to 43,718 gigawatt-hours in 2025 from 36,004 GWh previously.

As a result, the segment contributed beneficial earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of P73.7 billion, up by 11 percent from P66.1 billion.

The distribution business, meanwhile, saw a four-percent uptick in power sales, rising to 6,927 GWh from 6,631 GWh.

Excluding the impact of one-off transactions, the segment’s EBITDA edged two percent higher to P8.9 billion.

As of July 2025, AboitizPower was the country’s leading power generation company, according to the Energy Regulatory Commission.

The company had dominated the market with a 23.86-percent share, equivalent to a capacity of about 6.77 million kilowatts.
