MANILA, Philippines — The socio-civic arm of Spanish energy and infrastructure conglomerate Acciona S.A. has widened its exposure in the Philippines as it expanded its renewable electricity supply program to Pampanga.

In a statement, acciona.org said its Luz enCasa RE supply program now covers almost 21,400 people as it brought its service, based on photovoltaic systems and batteries, to 4,435 homes, as well as small businesses, educational centers, and community centers, scattered across 103 communities in Palawan and Pampanga where such service is not guaranteed by the conventional electricity grid.

The impact of acciona.org’s activities in the Philippines was recognized last year with the ACES (Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability) Award and the Grand Stevie Award. Last year, acciona.org became the first organization in the Philippines to be accredited by the UK’s Carbon Literacy Project to provide decarbonization and sustainability training.

Across the Philippines, acciona.org’s impact in 2025 resulted in a significant improvement in living conditions, including poverty reduction, local economy boost, better health and hygiene, and education and training.

The use of photovoltaic systems with batteries provided up to 12 hours of lighting daily (13 million hours in total), avoiding illnesses caused by smoke and the low light intensity of candles, kerosene and firewood.

In addition, acciona.org promoted the inclusion of women in decision-making and project management. Around 100 Filipino women were participating at year-end in the representative bodies established in each community to manage and oversee the services. Six of the eight user-service centers are run by women.
