Alex Eala trains with Venus Williams ahead of US Open

MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala worked out anew with Venus Williams as the Filipino tennis ace prepares for her second main draw appearance in the US Open.

Eala and Williams hit the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium with the official US Open social accounts posting clips from their session.

Williams and Eala teamed up in the Bad Homburg Open last June and made it to the quarterfinal. In the Canadian Open early this month, the Filipino-American tandem bowed out in the first round.

Venus will compete in the US Open doubles with her sister Serena and the singles tournament as a wild card.

Eala, now World No. 18, awaits her opponent with the draw scheduled for Friday (Philippine time)

The 21-year-old Eala made her Grand Slam mixed doubles debut last Wednesday with Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime, losing to Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils, 4-1, 4-1.

Eala will also play in the “Stars of the Open” — an exhibition spectacle of the 2026 US Open — against her friend and hometown bet Iva Jovic on Friday (Philippine time).
