COTABATO CITY — Anti-narcotics agents entrapped a known “shabu queen” operating in two Bangsamoro provinces during an operation on Friday, May 29, in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City in Administrative Region 12.
The suspect, a 44-year-old woman who is now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12, is a resident of Talitay, one of the 12 municipalities of Maguindanao del Norte in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Charlene Magdurulang, director of PDEA 12, told reporters on Sunday, May 31, that the suspect is now in their custody and will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Magdurulang said the suspect was immediately arrested by PDEA 12 agents and operatives from different units of the Police Regional Office 12 after allegedly selling to them half a kilogram of shabu worth P3.4 million to undercover operatives during a transaction at Deca Homes, a residential subdivision in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City.
Radio reports on Sunday said the operation that led to the suspect's arrest was based on information provided by local officials, including South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., chairperson of the multi-sector Regional Peace and Order Council 12, as well as Bangsamoro regional officials. The reports indicated that the suspect had allgedly shifted her shabu trafficking activities last month to towns and cities in Region 12
The suspect reportedly began operating in General Santos City, Koronadal City and towns in South Cotabato, after more than 10 of her alleged accomplices were arrested in separate joint entrapment operations conducted in Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte by PDEA-BARMM, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and the office of Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao.
Moro local executives and traditional datus said the suspect was widely known as the "shabu queen" in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte due to her alleged large-scale drug trafficking activities and had reportedly evaded six entrapment attempts by anti-narcotics operatives June 2025 to February this year.
