The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung / released

MANILA, Philippines —Rivals Apple and Samsung are joining forces, at least in a file-sharing capacity.

Samsung announced last month that it was introducing AirDrop support to its latest flagship phones in the Galaxy S26 series, making it easier for users to share content between Samsung and iPhones using the Quick Share feature.

AirDrop support on the Galaxy S26 — which include the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra — was launched in Korea last March 23 and is expanding to other regions, including Europe, North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Samsung also confirmed that while AirDrop support will initially be available on Galaxy S26 series, the feature's expansion to other devices will be announced in the future.

Samsung devices must have the latest iteration of Samsung One UI 8.5 and Google Play Services and must be at least the 26.11.XX version for AirDrop support to work.

Once the latest software is installed, Quick Share will indicate that a user's device can now share with any devices that support AirDrop, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Google previously introduced an update to its Quick Share wireless file transfer system by allowing users to share files to and from Apple users.
