MANILA, Philippines—Top Filipino prospect Andy Gemao has committed to attend Penn State University, a US NCAA Division 1 school.
The Nittany Lions, who play in the Big Ten Conference, announced the development on social media Saturday.
“Extremely honored to be offered by Penn State MBB. Thank you to the coaching staff for the opportunity,” said Gemao on his Instagram on Saturday.

The 6-foot-1 guard made a name for himself overseas, playing for Royal Crown Prep in Ontario, Canada, where he emerged as a top-25 player in the country.
Gemao suited up for the Gilas Pilipinas Youth team in 2024. He also led the Letran Squires to an NCAA juniors title in 2023, ending the school’s 22-year drought before heading abroad.
Gemao is the third international player recruited by Penn State after French forward François Wibaut and Croatian big man Roko Prkačin.
The Nittany Lions haven’t had much success over the last few years. They finished with a 3-17 record in the Big Ten last season and haven’t reached the NCAA Tournament since 2022-23.
The 19-year-old Gemao recently played for University of the Philippines in the Asiabasket National Student-Athletes Conference.
