MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer Anna Liza Logan, who had previously vied for the position of Ombudsman, has been appointed as the chief presidential legal counsel, the Palace announced on Tuesday, December 16. 

Logan replaced the late Juan Ponce Enrile, who had passed away at the age of 101 years old in November. The centenarian with a storied past died after a prolonged bout with pneumonia. 

The chief presidential legal counsel is tasked with giving legal advice and assistance to the president. 

Prior to her position, Logan had been the Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs of the Office of the President. Taking Logan’s old position is Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres. 

Other new Palace appointments include: 

  • Maria Luwalhati C. Dorotan Tiuseco - Senior Deputy Executive Secretary 
  • Danielle Marie Rieza-Culangen - Deputy Executive Secretary for General Administration 
  • Joseph Irvin A. Obenza - Deputy Executive Secretary for Financial Affairs
