MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2023 1st runner-up Anntonia Porsild connected even more with her Filipino fans after joining the Philippine contingent of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.

The Games' opening ceremony took place yesterday, December 9, in Thailand's Rajamangala National Stadium as athletes from across the region's 11 nations converged to officially kick off the biennial event.

Thai beauty queens were tapped as muses for each nation, with each tasked to carry a placard carrying their assigned country's name.

Anntonia, who became Thailand's first Miss Supranational winner in 2019, was assigned to the Philippines. She walked with Team Philippines alongside the nation's flagbearers: tennis star Alex Eala and men's volleybal captain Bryan Bagunas.

Alex, Bryan, and their fellow Filipinos wore outfits by Avel Bacudio from his "Laro ng Lahi" collection.

Because His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua was in attendance, only a select 300 from over a thousand Filipino athletes joined the ceremony.

The event was even more toned down as the Thailand is observing a one-year period of mourning for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who passed away last October.

Reigning Miss World Suchata "Opal" Chuangsri, the pageant's first Thai and second Southeast Asian winner, carried the placard of her home country.

The following Thai beauty queens also served as muses:

  • Miss Global Thailand 2025 Saffron Maya Snook for Brunei
  • Miss Intercontinental Thailand 2025 Vanessa Wenk for Cambodia
  • Miss Universe Thailand 2021 Anchilee Scott-Kemmis for Indonesia
  • Miss International 2019 Sireethorn Leearamwat for Laos
  • Miss Thailand 2023 Chonnikarn Supittayaporn for Malaysia
  • Miss Thailand 2025 2nd runner-up Kirana Yuthong for Myanmar
  • Miss Intercontinental 2023 Chatnalin Chotjirawarachat for Singapore
  • Miss Thailand 2024 Panida Kernjinda for Timor-Leste
  • Miss Universe Thailand 2023 2nd runner-up Nicha Poonpoka for Vietnam

The 2025 Southeast Asian Games will run until December 20. The Philippines aims for a Top 4 finish.
