ILOILO CITY — Starting in August, over 169,000 households in Antique will receive a P500 monthly electricity subsidy under a newly approved provincial initiative aimed at easing the financial burden of residents.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the Supplemental Annual Investment Program (SAIP) 3 on July 14, setting aside part of the P1.8-billion budget for the rollout of the Provincial Electric Power Subsidy (PEPS) Program.
The program, which will span three years, will provide direct monthly subsidies to all registered residential electricity consumers in the province.
SP member Karmila Rose Dimamay, chairman of the Committee on Finance and Appropriations and currently acting vice governor, said the subsidy will be sourced from Antique’s surplus and its share of the National Wealth Fund for fiscal years 2023 and 2024.
Gov. Paolo Javier had earlier identified the PEPS Program as a top priority of his administration, aiming to provide consistent and inclusive financial support to Antiqueño families amid rising utility costs.

“This is an urgent request from our governor. The goal is for the electric subsidy to already appear in consumers’ bills by August,” Dimamay said.
