MANILA, Philippines — Seven areas across the country are under the “danger” heat index level, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday, April 29, warning of scorching temperatures and heightened health risks.

In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said heat index values in these areas may range from 42°C to 43°C.

Sangley Point in Cavite and Aborlan, Palawan are expected to record the highest heat index on Thursday, April 30, at 43°C.

Other areas under the “danger” level include:

  • NAIA, Pasay City – 42°C
  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 42°C
  • Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City – 42°C
  • Dumangas, Iloilo – 42°C
  • Guiuan, Eastern Samar – 42°C

Extreme caution nationwide

Most parts of the country remain under the “extreme caution” category, with heat index levels ranging from 33°C to 41°C.

PAGASA said prolonged exposure under these conditions may lead to heat cramps and heat exhaustion.

In Metro Manila, the Science Garden in Quezon City is under the same classification, with a forecast heat index of 40°C.
