MANILA, Philippines – Philippine volleyball is bracing for a tough latter half of 2025 as the country’s hosting of the FIVB Men’s World Championships in September draws nearer by the day.

That is why the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is doing what it can to ensure Alas Pilipinas’ men’s and women’s programs are in top shape and fit for the sake of national pride come the world tilt in Manila.

Alas Women is up first with the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Nations Cup from June 7 to 14 in Hanoi, Vietnam, as it will once again be tested with stiff competition against Iran, Indonesia, Mongolia and New Zealand of Pool B.

First on the docket for the men, meanwhile, are the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals from June 10 to 12, a preparatory tournament for the worlds’ hosting at the Araneta Coliseum, one of only two tournament venues for the 32-team showpiece aside from the Mall of Asia Arena.

Alas Men will then fly out just a few days later to ply its craft in Bahrain for the AVC Men’s Nations Cup from June 17 to 24 against a loaded Pool B featuring Qatar, Vietnam, Australia, and Kazakhstan.

Other tournaments include the AVC Under-16 Championships, where only Alas Women will field a team to Amman, Jordan this July 20 to 27 against a Pool B field of Japan, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

All draws of the aforementioned AVC tournaments were held at the EDSA Shangri-La in Mandaluyong City and presided over by AVC and PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.

“It was a remarkable draw for the AVC’s competitions, and we’re incredibly happy to announce that volleyball is very much alive in Asia,” he said.
