MANILA, Philippines — Comedian Ate Gay is readmitted to the hospital several days after completing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for cancer.

Ate Gay, whose real name is Gil Aducal Morales, announced on social media last December 2 that she had been suffering side effects from the radiation therapy.

"'Di makakain dahil sa daming singaw ng bibig ko kaya nagpa-confine... 48 hours 'yan nakatusok sa akin, 'yan muna ang paraan ng pagpa-pakain," the comedian wrote on his Facebook post.

According to posts, Ate Gay is confined at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City.

Ate Gay was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year. Her condition is a specific mucoepidermoid squamous cell carcinoma, a rare cancer found the salivary glands, lungs, or thymu.

A month of chemotherapy shrunk a tumor on her neck. She then transitioned to immunotherapy.

Ate Gay got her name for her popular impersonations of late National Artist Nora Aunor, fondly called Ate Guy by fans and peers.
