MANILA, Philippines — Comedian Ate Gay has been confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City for nearly a week, with his hospital bill reaching over P2.4 million, his family said.

In a Facebook post on Monday, October 27, the family of the comedian, whose real name is Gil Aducal Morales, appealed for financial assistance to help cover his ongoing medical expenses as he continues to battle cancer.

The family shared a copy of a hospital Progress Payment Request Letter showing a bill of P2,435,218.96.

“Our beloved Gil Aducal Morales known to many as Ate Gay has been confined in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Asian Hospital and Medical Center for almost a week,” the family said.

“During this difficult time, our family is humbly reaching out to your kind hearts for any financial assistance to help support his ongoing medical needs,” they added.

The family expressed gratitude to those who have already extended help and encouraged others to contribute, regardless of the amount.

“No amount is too small. Every contribution, prayer, and share means so much to our family,” they said, while asking for continued prayers for the comedian’s recovery.

The latest hospitalization came days after Ate Gay was reportedly rushed to the hospital due to complications from cancer.

The comedian, known for his impersonation of the late Superstar Nora Aunor, recently became the subject of a viral “living funeral” organized by friends and supporters.

Dubbed a “Celebration of Life,” the gathering brought together people close to Ate Gay to honor his life and career while he was still alive. Attendees delivered heartfelt messages and tributes, allowing the comedian to hear their expressions of love and appreciation.
