BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Temperature in Baguio City dropped to 9 degrees Celsius at around 5 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, bringing cold and foggy weather to the mountain resort city.
Data from state weather bureau PAGASA showed the temperature gradually falling before dawn, from about 12 degrees Celsius at 2 a.m., 11 degrees Celsius at 3 a.m. and 10 degrees Celsius at 4 a.m., before reaching 9 degrees Celsius at around 5 a.m.
Thick fog blanketed pine trees and several hilly and mountainous areas early in the morning, a common sight in the city during the cooler months.
Located about 1,540 meters above sea level, Baguio is known for its cooler climate compared to most parts of the country. Temperatures in the city often drop further during the early morning hours, especially during the northeast monsoon season.
Weather records show that the lowest temperature recorded in Baguio in 2025 was around 10.4 degrees Celsius, while the coldest temperature in the city’s history was 6.3 degrees Celsius recorded on Jan. 18, 1961.
