COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Eleven orphaned Moro children in Shariff Saydona Mustapha town in Maguindanao del Sur received on Thursday, January 8, a three-month P15,000 cash subsidy each as financial support from the Bangsamoro social services ministry.
The release of the funds to the 11th-grade school children was part of the Kupkop Program of the Ministry of Social Services and Development-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao that allocates P5,000 monthly cash assistance to each parentless child in BARMM's far-flung areas that can be spent for their daily needs and schooling.
The 11 beneficiaries of the Kupkop Program in Shariff Saydona Mustapha stay in homes of their relatives, being watched over together by local government social welfare workers and MSSD-BARMM's provincial employees in Maguindanao del Sur.
MSSD-BARMM information officers and Regional Social Services Minister Raissa Jajurie separately told reporters on Friday that each of the 11 orphans received a three-month cash stipend each on Thursday.
Jajurie said she is thankful to the municipal government of Shariff Saydona Mustapha for supporting their Kupkop Program.
MSSD-BARMM's provincial employees in Tawi-Tawi released last month a P1,000 cash grant each to 1,033 elderly residents of Sapa-Sapa town in the province as beneficiaries of the ministry’s Social Pension (SocPen) for Indigent Senior Citizens Program.
Jadjurie said the December 20 to 29 payouts for the 1,033 SocPen support for villagers in Sapa-Sapa, one of the 11 island towns in Tawi-Tawi, was facilitated with the help of local executives in the municipality.
