COTABATO CITY — Police in the Bangsamoro region seized P68.3 million worth of shabu in a series of anti-drug operations over the past 10 days, a regional police official said Sunday, March 22.
Brig. Gen. Jaysen De Guzman, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), said authorities also confiscated P1.6 million worth of imported cigarettes.
The cigarettes were intended for delivery to contacts in Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Cotabato City, officials said.
Operations across the region's five provinces and three cities included entrapment activities and drug den raids, carried out with support from local government officials, De Guzman said.
Regional police officials thanked local leaders, including Cotabato City Mayor Bruce Matabalao, Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. and BARMM Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua, for backing the anti-narcotics campaign.
"The Bangsamoro regional government is our strong partner in our law enforcement activities in all areas in the autonomous region," De Guzman said.
He said continued support from the regional government and its law enforcement ministries has helped sustain operations against illegal drugs and the circulation of smuggled cigarettes in the area.
