OVER 6, 000 individuals have benefited from the "PCUP (Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor) Bayanihan para sa Bawat Maralita" (PBBM) caravan held over the weekend in Batangas province.
PCUP Chairman and CEO Menardo Sabili said the beneficiaries that received all forms of services from various government agencies surpassed the 5,000 people that were initially expected by the agency.
"This latest activity was made possible with the help of over 400 government agencies, nongovernment organizations and private institutions that joined the latest PCUP caravan," Sabili told The Manila Times on Wednesday.
"Over 6,000 Batangueños have availed of the free medical and dental consultations, eye checkups, wellness programs, a job fair, livelihood orientations, legal consultations and more," he added.
The PCUP chief cited the spirit of "bayanihan" (community cooperation) and the solid partnership among the stakeholders as the key to the success of the PBBM Caravan.

He was all praises for the efforts of the personnel of the agency's Field Operations Division in the National Capital Region and Luzon for spearheading the event.
As the program concluded, Sabili said he announced several upcoming projects of the agency, including the establishment of a new PCUP satellite office in Camarines Sur.
This initiative aims to bring government services closer to underprivileged Filipinos in the region for faster and more efficient assistance, the commission said.
PCUP continues to fulfill its mandate to be the bridge between the urban poor and the government, promoting inclusive development and a better future for all, Sabili said.
