MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald dela Rosa has not been seen for four months, but has requested his family’s use of a Senate facility in Baguio.
Dela Rosa sent a letter dated March 12 to Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza, asking their permission for his family to use the “Senate Mansion” for the “CSAFP Cup” from March 26 to 29.
Asked to verify the letter, Sotto said he referred the matter to the Senate secretary.
Mendoza confirmed the letter and informed Dela Rosa that the request could not be accommodated because the Senate Mansion is under renovation.
A senator’s family may only be allowed in the Senate property if the senator is with them, he added.
The March 12 letter was signed by Dela Rosa himself.
This was not the first official document signed by the senator even though he was reportedly in hiding amid a looming International Criminal Court arrest warrant.
Sotto said Dela Rosa signed Senate Resolution 343 adopted Wednesday which urged the executive to have a national contingency plan to address the impact of the Middle East crisis.
Dela Rosa also signed the “Minority Report,” dated Dec. 10, 2025 containing the minority bloc’s findings on the flood control corruption probe, even though the Blue Ribbon committee had not yet released its official report.
He was named co-perpetrator in former president Rodrigo Duterte’s crimes against humanity case in The Hague, where Duterte is detained to face trial for the deaths in his bloody drug war.
