Miss Charm Philippines Cyrille PayumoMiss Charm Philippines Cyrille Payumo has apologized for wearing the farewell gown of 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray.
On Instagram, Cyrille expressed her regret for any harm or offense caused by her actions, noting that causing pain was never her intention.
"My goal was to honor not only the victory of bringing the Miss Philippines Charm title home to Pampanga but also to celebrate the visionary artistry of Mak Tumang," Cyrille said.
The beauty queen added: "I recognize that my actions may have unintentionally diminished the significance of Catriona Gray’s monumental achievements, and I am deeply sorry for that. I take full responsibility for any misunderstandings or hurt feelings that may have resulted."

"On January 25, 2025, the second edition of Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga took place, a momentous occasion that I will cherish forever. Days before the event, I was humbled to learn that the brilliant designer Mak Tumang, would be sponsoring my final walk gown as I passed the crown to the next representative of our beloved province, Pampanga.
"To add to the magic of the moment, I was informed that one of the options from his masterpieces would be the farewell gown of Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray. A wave of emotions flooded over me—excitement, nerves, and a profound sense of honor.
"My heart swelled with awe, and I felt an overwhelming sense of privilege. I understand that wearing such an iconic gown has sparked divided opinions. To those who may have been hurt or offended, I want to clarify that causing pain was never my intention.
"My goal was to honor not only the victory of bringing the Miss Philippines Charm title home to Pampanga but also to celebrate the visionary artistry of Mak Tumang. I want to express my deep gratitude to Sir Mak for allowing me to wear one of his stunning masterpieces.

The evening gown designed by Mak Tumang was first worn by Filipino-Australian beauty queen Catriona Gray during the 2019 Miss Universe Competition held in Atlanta, Georgia, on Dec. 8.
Catriona has not commented on Cyrille wearing the evening gown.
