MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration is set to deport a Chinese businessman allegedly tagged as an importer of the luxury cars owned by couple Pacifico “Curlee” and Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya, the BI said yesterday.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said in a statement that 41-year-old Cao Cheng would be deported following his arrest in Makati on Nov. 27 by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group or HPG.

According to information shared by LTO Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao with the BI, Cao was apprehended for obstruction of the apprehension and prosecution of a criminal offender, illegal use of alias, false representation, willful misrepresentation of material information and other offenses.

He was detained at the Special Operations Division of the HPG at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

According to LTO records, Cao misrepresented himself using the name Martin Zhao – a move that Viado said is a ground for undesirability.

“He was found to have fraudulently acquired documentation using a different name. This is a clear case of misrepresentation. No foreign national should use fictitious identities in transactions in the Philippines,” Viado said.

The BI is also checking if Cao has other pending cases in the country. If he has, the BI will wait for the resolution of the trial and service of prison sentence before deporting him.

Once deported, he would be included in the BI blacklist.

Lacanilao earlier said they are looking for other Chinese nationals, specifically Cao’s business partners and co-owners of ACH Motor Center in Makati.

Aside from the BI, the LTO will coordinate with the Bureau of Customs to determine if the luxury cars of ACH Motor Center were legally imported.

The BOC confiscated 13 cars owned by the Discaya family and has put up seven vehicles for auction.

Three of the luxury cars have been auctioned, with the remaining vehicles are set for auction today.
