MANILA, Philippines — A bill seeking the establishment of a Philippine National Quality Infrastructure and National Quality Policy has passed first reading in Congress.
House Bill 6125, authored by 1Tahanan party-list Rep. Nathaniel Oducado, aims to ensure that products and services made in the Philippines meet high standards of quality. It will strengthen the system of standards, testing, certification and inspection across various sectors, including food, medicine, infrastructure, consumer products and services, to guarantee safety, reliability and excellence for the Filipino people.
Oducado said the bill is an important step in strengthening public confidence in locally made products while enhancing the country’s competitiveness in the global market.
“House Bill 6125 aims to ensure that when a product carries the Tatak Pinoy, it truly represents quality. This is a crucial step in demonstrating that Filipino-made products and services can meet world-class standards,” he said.
The lawmaker added that the establishment of the Philippine National Quality Infrastructure would help build a more robust system for ensuring the quality and reliability of goods and services in the country.
