MANILA, Philippines — Maloi Ricalde of the local girl group BINI had quite the memorable 24th birthday after she and the P-pop act joined Grammy winner Laufey onstage during the latter's Manila comeback concerts.

The Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter was back in the Philippines for her "A Matter of Time" tour promoting her latest album of the same name, performing again at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Last May 27, the second of Laufey's sold-out Manila 2026 concerts, the artist surprised fans by bringing out BINI — all of them wearing flowing dresses by Vania Romoff — to perform the former's 2023 single "From The Start."

BINI's participation had already been revealed earlier in the evening during soundcheck, with Laufey even donning a shirt that read "Mahal Kita" and "Pilipins."

It was a reunion for both artists as they had met last month during the 2026 Billboard Women in Music ceremony — both BINI and Laufey were honorees — and it is likely the seeds for BINI appearing at one of the shows started there.

The evening was particularly special for Maloi, who was celebrating her birthday that night, and she even got a signed "A Matter of Time" vinyl record from Laufey.

"Happy birthday angel!!!! Thank you for spending your special day with me on stage," Laufey greeted Maloi in an Instagram story by reposting the latter.

Laufey also reposted Instagram stories by fans of BINI's participation in her concert, writing in one "I love you BINI."

This is Laufey's fourth time in the Philippines since her first show back in 2023 for her first-ever Asia Tour.
