MANILA, Philippines — After the historic feat as the first Filipino act to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026, BINI returned for their second and final weekend seemingly set with the message: P-pop belongs on the global stage.
Fresh off a widely celebrated debut that rippled across social media and global audiences, the Nation’s Girl Group — Jhoanna, Colet, Mikha, Aiah, Gwen, Maloi, Stacey and Sheena — stepped back onto the Mojave Stage on April 17 (April 18, Manila time) with heightened confidence, sharper execution and a stronger command of the crowd during their 45-minute set.
During the livestream, the Mojave tent appeared more packed, with a more visible sea of Philippine flags.
Following their golden salakot and tropical looks in Weekend 1, the group opened with “Strings” in Y2K-inspired red and blue ensembles before transitioning into metallic outfits.
Each member introduced themselves in their native dialects and languages, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“Grabe ang daming Pinoy! Maraming salamat po! It feels so special to be back here for Weekend 2,” group leader Jhoanna said.
“For everyone who’s watching around the world, we see you!” Sheena added in between numbers like “Karera” and “Salamin, Salamin.”
They closed the set with “Pantropiko,” infused with kulintang elements. The Philippine flag filled the massive LED backdrop, a proud Pinoy moment that left not only the members but even Filipinos tuning into the YouTube livestream also emotional.
“Maraming salamat Coachella, thank you for being part of our journey, we’re going remember this forever,” Gwen said.
“Mabuhay ang musikang Pilipino!” Jhoanna declared.
Behind the scenes, ABS-CBN bosses couldn’t be any prouder. Carlo Katigbak, president and CEO of ABS-CBN, was among the Kapamilya executives who supported and was spotted among the Coachella crowd.
In a separate interview with The STAR post-Coachella, head of music Roxy Liquigan described the group’s successful stint as a culmination of years of work.
“It’s a mix of pride, gratitude and deep fulfillment. Seeing BINI finally step onto a stage like Coachella feels like the result of years of sacrifice, and hard work from so many people behind them. The journey wasn’t overnight. It was built step by step, with training, growth, setbacks, breakthroughs, and a lot of trust in the vision,” the ABS-CBN exec told The STAR.
“If we had to sum it up, it’s a story of faith meeting preparation at the right moment. And in that moment, everything just aligned.”
Liquigan, likewise, noted that Weekend 2 carried more emotional weight for the P-pop girl group that was launched five years ago by the Kapamilya network and survived challenges such as the pandemic and the loss of broadcast franchise.
“The finale felt like a release of everything they’ve been building toward. There was a different kind of energy, more grounded, more confident, and more emotional,” Liquigan further told this paper.
“It wasn’t just about performing well. It was about presence. You could feel that they were not just performing on a global stage, they belonged there.”
Their second-weekend set is also expected to build on the strong digital performance of their debut, which ranked among the most viewed Coachella performances online, alongside global names like Justin Bieber and US-based girl group Katseye, which also has a Filipino member, Sophia Laforteza.
