MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said more than 52,700 certificates of registration (COR) with registration seal badges have been secured by online sellers, service providers and content creators as of Oct. 14, as it aims to simplify tax compliance and protect taxpayers’ personal information.

In a statement, the BIR said the badges replace the previous requirement for covered taxpayers to publicly display their full COR or electronic COR on websites, social media business pages and other digital platforms.

The registration seal badges through Revenue Memorandum Circular 38-2026 were designed to protect the privacy and personal information of online sellers, service providers and content creators.

“The Registration Seal Badge is meant to make online transactions safer and more convenient,” BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza said.

“A taxpayer should not have to expose an entire registration document just to prove that a business is registered. We want to make compliance easier while protecting the personal information of online sellers, professionals and content creators,” he said.

The BIR extended the deadline for displaying the badges to Oct. 31 under Revenue Memorandum Circular 99-2026, giving covered taxpayers additional time to secure and display them on their online platforms.

It also urged those who have yet to obtain their badges to comply with the requirement and display them on their applicable online business pages and platforms.

The agency said consumers and prospective clients may likewise scan the badge to verify BIR registration before transacting online.
