MANILA, Philippines — Business groups yesterday expressed support for the postponement of EDSA’s rehabilitation to give stakeholders enough time to prepare for its impact.
Adjustments must be made by businesses to help ease workers’ burden of commuting, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Enunina Mangio told The STAR yesterday.
Fixing Metro Manila’s busiest highway is “long overdue and needed,” the Management Association of the Philippines noted.
President Marcos earlier postponed the P8.7-billion EDSA Rebuild project, which was supposed to begin on June 13.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) will request for doctors to be exempted from traffic schemes that could be enforced during EDSA rehabilitation.
“We are trying to get the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman to dialogue with us so we can present or appeal for exemption,” PMA president Hector Santos said.
An odd-even coding scheme was supposed to be implemented during EDSA repairs to control traffic volume.
