The Philippine Blu Girls absorbed a stinging 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chinese Taipei in the 2025 WBSC Women’s Softball Asia Cup in Xi’an, China on Friday, July 18.It was the second straight loss for the Blu Girls after yielding to host China in a tight 2-1 contest earlier.Su Yi-Hsuan delivered a double to right-center, bringing Li Szu-Shih home for Taiwan’s first run in the bottom of the second inning. Taiwan added two more runs in the sixth, courtesy of RBIs from Chen Chia-Yi and Shen Chia-Wen.The Nationals remain at fourth with a 5-3 win-loss record and are battling Hong Kong at press time.Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier is still confident of the team in its ability to bounce back.“We knew this stretch of games would test us,” said Lhuillier, also CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.“The important thing now is how the team responds. The fight is far from over, and I believe in the resilience and heart of these players,” he added.The Blu Girls aim to finish strong to gain one of the three spots at stake for the Women’s Softball World Cup group stage set next year.
