MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs is studying proposals to launch a "super green lane" for micro, small and medium enterprises, and exporters to support their entry into the global market, spokesperson Vincent Philip Maronilla said.
The bureau currently limits its expedited lane to qualified importers, where it fast-tracks shipments by waiving prior physical examinations or documentary checks.
Streamlining the approval process for exporters, Maronilla said, would allow them to enjoy the benefits of free trade agreements by making it easier to secure the certificates of origin needed to waive or reduce tariffs.
Maronilla also said the bureau's Operations Coordination Group is drafting a resolution to simplify the requirements for accreditation, with the agency planning to assume responsibility for cross-checking submissions to other departments.
These policies are separate from the rollout of a revised customs processing system scheduled for 2028.
The BOC held its first export summit from October 26 to 27, where businesses and industry groups were given the opportunity to raise issues with government representatives and exchange views with fellow industry players.
