MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go visited and distributed assistance to families affected by fire in Barangays Maysilo and Tañong in Malabon on Friday.

“Do not lose hope. You can still earn money and start all over again. The more important thing is we are alive. Let us help each other,” Go said, as he noted that the local government and other agencies are determining the kind of assistance to be given to the fire victims.

Go met with 66 families from Barangay Maysilo and 111 families from Barangay Tañong to distribute cash aid, food items, fans, vitamins, containers, clothing and sports equipment. Several people were given shoes, watches and bicycles.

He stressed the significance of strengthening local health services, particularly in densely populated areas, citing his continuing efforts to improve hospital facilities in Malabon and around the country.

“It is very important to have a hospital here in Malabon. With the traffic in Metro Manila, you do not need to go elsewhere to seek medical care,” Go said.

He cited his work to transform the San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital into a modern 200-bed facility, noting that the SLRGH was only a 10-bed women’s hospital in 2019.

On Sept. 29, 2025, the new six-story building was inaugurated, wherein Go was lauded for fulfilling his commitment to the healthcare of Malabon residents.

“The health of every Filipino is a priority,” Go stressed.
