Sen. Bong Go talks with a couple during his visit to the fire victims in Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde in Davao City over the weekend.
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go visited families displaced by fire in Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde in, Davao City’s Agdao District on Saturday.
Go encouraged the affected families to remain hopeful despite their loss last March 16.
He highlighted the importance of vigilance, especially during the dry season when fire incidents are more prevalent and as the country observes Fire Prevention Month.
The 231 affected families received financial assistance to help them cope with the immediate impact of the fire, aside from grocery packs, vitamins, water containers, shirts, balls and foldable fans.
Some items – shoes, watch, bicycle and mobile phone – were raffled off.
Go told the victims of his continued push for comprehensive disaster preparedness and response measures.
He is the principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act 12076 (Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act), which mandates the establishment of permanent disaster-resilient fully equipped evacuation centers in towns and cities, as well as RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021.
