For the youth, a future free of worsening disasters depends on a just and sustainable shift to clean energy
MANILA, Philippines – According to the United Nations, the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas remains the biggest contributor to global climate change. Communities are the first to feel its consequences as storms grow stronger, natural resources are depleted, and health conditions steadily worsen in their areas.
Across the Philippines, however, young people are refusing to accept this as their future. They have started to take concrete steps to lead their communities out of the climate crisis by pushing for a just energy transition away from fossil fuels and toward clean, renewable energy.
Watch this video to learn how just energy transition advocates from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are leading the fight for a cleaner future. – Rappler.com
