Christian Bautista looked back to the time he popped the question to his wife Kat Ramnani while they were abroad in Europe — and it wasn't completely smooth sailing leading up to the moment.
In Tuesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Asia's Romantic Balladeer shared he asked Kat to meet up with him in Greece since it was part of his European tour.
“Funny story. Mayroong European tour na nangyari and then sabi ko sa kaniya, ‘Mayroon akong European tour, magkita naman tayo sa Greece kasi nandoon na ako, makakatipid tayo,'” recalled the Asia's Romantic Balladeer.
“So pumunta siya doon. Itinago ko ‘yung engagement ring,” he added.
While they were in Europe, Christian said he tried to look for the perfect spot and moment to propose but everything seemed off. Worse, the engagement ring got lost at one point.
"I don’t know, hindi lumalabas, hindi ko ma-feel at that moment or spot until nawala ‘yung engagement ring," he said.
“Nawala ‘yung engagement ring kasi nilagay ko sa check-in [baggage] at ‘yung eroplano ipinadala sa ibang bansa. So, parang nagtanong ako sa sarili ko na, 'Is this a sign? What’s going on?' 'Di ba, so parang I was so, so distraught."
The bag was eventually found and returned to Christian a few days later, and he finally decided to ask Kat’s hand in marriage simply and privately in their hotel room.
"Thank God after a few days nahanap ‘yung bag, and then noong nakita ko ‘yung bag and ‘yung ring, I proposed that night," he said.
Kat shared, “He proposed to me in my pajamas na may butas-butas on our last night. So in all the beautiful spots in Europe, no. He just did it in the room, in private, in my Winnie the Pooh pajama with butas on it."
Christian added that he wanted to show Kat that he did not need anything else—just her—to make the moment special.
“Parang pinakita ko rin sa kaniya na I don’t need all of these sceneries. I just need you," he said.
Christian and Kat tied the knot in Bali in November 2018. It was followed by an elegant reception in Manila a month later.
The Kapuso singer recently renewed his contract with GMA Network.
