MANILA, Philippines — Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is one of the most beloved children's books to this very day, introducing kids to a peculiar bunch of characters like the Cheshire Cat, March Hare, Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter.
Now imagine these curious individuals gathering on stage one after the other through a series of circus performances and other awe-inspiring acts.
Such is the premise of "Cirque Alice," running for a limited time until October 25 at the Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City.
The production sees singer Layla Rose Schillert's Alice chase after the violin-playing White Rabbit (Raphael Papo) down a rabbit hole and into Wonderland, encountering its different inhabitants through a number of circus acts.

Much like Carroll's imagination, there are no limitations to what these individuals can do — contortions by the Caterpillar, roller-skating by the White King and Queen, balance acts by the Dormouse, and so much more.
Injecting some hearty humor in select segments of the two-hour show is Darren "Dizzy" Partridge as the Mad Hatter, pulling up audience members to join in his "magical" antics.
"Cirque Alice" is very much akin to the grandest birthday party, or should we say tea party, one has ever been to. Children will definitely get a kick out of seeing onstage circus performances, many of which should not be replicated at home.
Acrobatic stunts and a fun selection of classical pieces highlight this fun production which leave audiences hungry for Eat Me Cakes and Drink Me Potions.
