CONCEPCION, Tarlac — A newly constructed government center in Barangay Alfonso in this town which will serve as the new municipal hall and house other government offices was inaugurated on Thursday.

Gov. Susan Yap and Concepcion Mayor Noel Villanueva graced the inauguration attended by Representatives Noel Rivera (third district) and Christian Yap (second district), and members of the League of Municipalities headed by Moncada Mayor Estelita Aquino.

Villanueva said the P540-million center inside the sprawling 7,200-square-meter is a two-story modern building which will showcase a new era of governance where residents can avail of the local government unit's services.

Following its groundbreaking on Oct. 4, 2023, contributions from the office of government officials came with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (through House Speaker Martin Romualdez) giving away P75 million; Senators Joel Villanueva (P20 million), Bong Go (P10 million), JV Ejercito (P10 million) and Lito Lapid (P25 million), Governor Yap (P30 million), and Representatives Rivera (P50 million) and Martin Romualdez giving elevators.

Villanueva said the move to the new building marks a historic shift from the 96-year-old municipal building constructed in 1929. The old municipal building, a historic landmark, had long been unable to support the increasing demands of the town's population.

It will be converted into a museum on recommendation from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

The new facility, then, was designed to accommodate the growing needs of Concepcion's local government operations, providing ample space for employees and ensuring smoother transactions for residents availing of public services.

Yap lauded the project as a testament to Concepcion's dedication to modernization and foresight.

The government center will also include local offices of national agencies, including that of the Social Security System, Government Service Insurance System, Commission on Audit, and the Commission on Elections.
